Our Story

Some of Our Deepest Pain Became Our Greatest Purpose Life

If someone had told us years ago that our greatest ministry would begin with a laser engraver sitting untouched in our garage, we probably would have laughed. But then again, God has always had a way of writing stories we never could have imagined.

Hi, we’re Scotty and Kimmi Williams, and we’re so glad you’re here.

This October, we’ll celebrate fifteen years of marriage. Together, we’ve built a beautifully blended family of five remarkable children and have been blessed with three precious granddaughters who have completely stolen our hearts.

Our story actually began long before we were husband and wife. We met in high school, went our separate ways, built different lives, raised our families, made our share of mistakes, and experienced more heartache than we ever expected. Looking back now, we don’t believe it was by accident. We simply believe God was writing a bigger story. Years later, He brought us back together. Neither of us was the same person we had been as teenagers. Life had humbled us. We had experienced brokenness, disappointment, financial struggles, job loss, and seasons where the future seemed uncertain. Scotty courageously fought his battle with alcohol addiction, and through God’s grace, healing, perseverance, and the unwavering love of family, we learned that no valley is too deep for God to redeem. Those seasons weren’t easy. But every one of them taught us to lean a little harder on Jesus. As our children grew up and began building lives of their own, our home slowly became quieter. While we absolutely cherish every opportunity we have to spend time with our children and our granddaughters, we suddenly found ourselves in a season that many parents understand wondering what God had planned next. Then He quietly opened a door. Our son, Nicholas, and his wife were stationed in Alaska while serving in the United States Air Force. During their time there, they discovered laser engraving and started a small side business. We loved watching their creativity and the joy they found in building something together. Inspired by them, Scotty took a leap of faith and purchased our own laser engraver, hoping that one day, when they returned to Ohio, we could build something together as a family. But once again, life took an unexpected turn. Nicholas’ military career kept them in Alaska longer than anyone anticipated, and the laser engraver sat quietly in our garage for nearly a year. At the time, it felt like another dream placed on hold. Now we realize God wasn’t delaying our plans. He was preparing our hearts. When we finally turned that machine on, we expected to learn a new hobby. Instead, we discovered our purpose. As we experimented with designs and learned the art of engraving, we noticed something happening inside us. We weren’t interested in creating ordinary home décor. We wanted to create pieces that reminded people of God’s love, His promises, and His faithfulness through every season of life. Out of that desire, 10:10 Engraving was born. Our name comes from John 10:10, where Jesus says: “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” That verse became the heartbeat of everything we create. Not long afterward came the idea that changed everything. What if a simple jar could become more than home décor? What if it could become a reminder that hope still shines? What if someone sitting in grief, celebrating a new beginning, remembering a loved one, or simply needing encouragement could glance across the room, see that gentle glow, and remember they are never alone? That’s how ShineMark was born. Every ShineMark jar begins as a matte black vessel with a natural bamboo lid. Each one is carefully engraved by us, illuminated from within, and created with prayer, intention, and purpose. Hidden within every design is a small 10:10. Sometimes it’s obvious. Sometimes you’ll have to look a little closer. We did that intentionally because God’s fingerprints often reveal themselves the same way. Sometimes they’re easy to see. Other times we discover them only after we’ve walked through the storm. Every hidden 10:10 is our quiet reminder that God is always present, always working, and always writing a story bigger than the one we can see. Today, 10:10 Engraving is so much more than a family business. It is our mission. It is our ministry. It is our way of sharing the hope we’ve found through Jesus Christ with others who may need a reminder that they are loved, remembered, and never alone. If you’ve welcomed one of our ShineMark jars into your home, you’ve become part of that mission with us.

Our prayer is that every time its light shines, you’ll remember this simple truth: Even in life’s darkest moments… His light still shines.

From our family to yours,

Scotty & Kimmi Williams
